THE CHARLOTTE CONNECTION

In 1993, Mary left her two year run with the touring company of Les Miserables. She landed the role of the “Narrator” in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the CPCC Summer Theatre starring Tommy Page and directed by Kim Morgan Greene. Charlotte audiences and critics alike loved her work, so Mary made Charlotte stages her home away from home.

The following Fall she played “Trina” in Charlotte Repertory’s presentation of Falsettos directed by Steve Umberger. Her work in both shows was honored by receiving the coveted “Creative Loafing”critic’s award as Best Actress in a Musical.

In 1994, Mary was on tour with Hello, Dolly! starring Carol Channing. While the tour stopped in Charlotte, Mary presented her 60 minute one-woman show A New York Romance on her day off as a benefit for Charlotte Repertory.

Then, in 1996, she returned to star in Funny Girl as “Fanny Brice”, once again wowing audiences at CPCC Summer Theatre.

She followed up that Summer with a one week run of the 90 minute version of her show A New York Romance to sold-out audiences. “Creative Loafing” once again honored her as Best Actress in a Musical.

In the Fall she was a soloist with the Charlotte Symphony in a tribute to Leonard Bernstein conducted by Janna Hymes-Bianchi.
